Melo Shells are found in most regions of the world and are very abundant in the Sulu Sea surrounding Mindinao, Philippines. These shells were going to waste as the average tourist shop wants shells about half this size so tourists can carry them in their suitcase. They are hand polished using toothpaste that has not passed QC from a production line, yet another product that was going to waste. The wood used in the base is plantation grown Jimilina or Plantation Calantis. Hand carved to fit the contour of the shell.
